Our Captive Bred Fish Species
We are on a mission to provide a 100% man made marine aquarium environment. With that in mind, Eco Reef Technologies LLC is looking for business and personal customers in the Detroit, Michigan metro area who are in need of aquarium fishes which are 100% captive bred and raised. Still, we will ship fishes as far away as Canada and Mexico. However, there are a few things to consider when doing this. First, fishes are very expensive to ship because they have to go from our door to yours very quickly, or they can die. This means air shipment. The way to beat the cost is to purchase several dish at once. You can partner with a friend or acquaintance and purchase ten (10) or more to be air shipped. We will even discount the price for an order over ten fish. Contact us for details. If we are lucky enough to land a large contract, we will happily employ people from the local area to assist us in this endeavor.

Man made Fishes
The Ocellaris Clownfish

The Ocellaris Clownfish is one of the easier fish to captive breed and raise. The eggs are of a large enough size to make feeding the larvae live rotifers relatively easy. These rotifers are part of plankton and are pretty much the bottom of the food chain. However, they are essential to captive bred fish production. The Ocellaris Clownfish is one of the most hardy fishes that can be purchased for marine aquariums. They are reef safe and friendly to other species. They are a vivid orange color with white bars. Anyone who has seen that famous Disney movie, "Finding Nemo", has got a close up look at this beautiful fish. Click on the photo to the left for a larger image. These fish look like the one at the top of this page. If you are interested in purchasing fishes like this, please Contact Us for details. If you go to our online store and do not choose next day air, we will have to contact you for a price change in shipping. These must be shipped next day air if they are not purchased within 50 miles of the greater Detroit, Michigan area.

Percula Clownfish

The Percula Clownfish

A step above the Ocellaris clownfishes are the Percula variety. These fish have a deeper more rich color and are much better looking all around. As a matter of fact, the Ocellaris Clownfish is often called a false Percula. The main difference between the species is that the Ocellaris has thin black outlines around their white bars, while the Percula has much more robust black borders. Both of these fish types will take almost any food, and therefore are easy to keep. This species and the Ocellaris are great first fish for the beginner saltwater enthusiast. Click on the picture to the left for a better view of these fishes as they swim in one of our tanks.

Percula Clownfish

The Black Ocellaris Clownfish

A step above the Percula clownfishes are the Black variety of Ocellaris. These fish have a deep rich black color and are a more striking color and are very beautiful looking all around. As a matter of fact, the Black Ocellaris Clownfish is one of the most sought after clownfishes in your local fish stores. These fishes are more rare than the Orange colorations, and therefore, are more desirable to some and command a higher price. These fish, like the others mentioned above, also will take almost any food, and therefore are easy to keep. This species and the Perculas are great fish for the saltwater enthusiast. Click on the picture to the left for a better view of these fishes. These fishes can be mixed in a reef tank or fish tank with the Orange Ocellaris and the Perculas. Buy a captive bred and tank raised Black Ocellaris Clownfish and save the reefs.

Percula Clownfish

The Tomato Clownfish

Another fine species of Clownfish is the Tomato Clown. This species would be better suited to a tank with mates of its own species, and not mixed with Ocellaris or Percula clowns. These fishes tens to be a little more aggressive. However, they come in many shades or red or orange and are quite beautiful in a reef or fish type aquarium setup. Typically, they have one stripe near their head, instead of the traditional three stripes of the Ocellaris and Perculas. They also grow larger than their cousins. They too will take almost any type of food and are easy to keep. However, they will usually stake out a territory in the tank and defend it for their own. Larger fishes work well with this species. If you are considering a fish only tank, or only want one species of Clownfish in your tank, than this is the one for you. These too are captive bred and raised, so you can still save the reefs by purchasing these. Currently, we have bright red ones in stock.
